Jacqueline "J" Dyer
J was diagnosed with Charcot Marie Tooth Disease (CMT) Type 1D at the age of 4.
CMT is a peripheral form of neuropathy with no known cure to date. Jacqueline has lost the ability to do most things on her own, although she was once able to. Faced with an unknown future and a highly progressive form of this disease, her diagnosis has drastically changed their lives. Despite their constant battles, the Dyer family strives to maintain a positive attitude and live life to the fullest every day. Jacqueline loves to watch movies, participate in horse therapy, hang out with friends, and go on runs!! Read more about CMT at http://www.cmtausa.org.
The mission of Just for J is to continue to bring awareness not only to CMT but to also help support families with similar circumstances. As any family with a special needs child knows there are many hardships that come with daily living. Just for J 5K was created in honor of Jacqueline to help make her "bucket list" a reality. The overwhelming out pour of love and support not only from family and friends but from those they do not know led them on a mission to give back. In honor of Jacqueline, the Just for J 5K while continuing to support J & her needs, will also honor families to receive proceeds raised each year.
